Dancers must be invited to participate in our competitive programs. Dancers who are interested in participating but have not been invited may request an assessment with the director.
Attendance to all required classes is imperative. Dancers that miss an excessive number of classes, as determined by the teacher and director, may be asked to withdraw from the program. Dancers must attend their Technique and Ballet classes on a regular basis.
We have two levels of competition teams: Regular Competitive and Part-Time Competitive. Part-Time dancers are required to take fewer classes and compete at Novice or Pre-Competitive levels at competitions.
It is recommended that dancers take classes in other disciplines as well including Hip Hop, Tap, Acro and Triple Threat.
Please review the of chart on the following page titled “Breakdown of Class Requirements” as it details the requirements for all teams.
Our 2022-2023 competition schedule will be confirmed by the beginning of October. Except for special circumstances, all dancers are expected to attend all competitions.
We will be attending 3 mandatory competitions; one at the end of March, one in April, and one in May.
With the exception of the last 3 years, KEYMC Teams have always done one ‘away’ competition. One of the primary reasons we did this was to enhance the team building experience for our dancers. Travelling to a different city by bus, staying in a hotel together, competing in a completely different environment provided a new challenge and an exceptional level of bonding for our teams and our parents! We will also be evaluating the viability of this option before we announce Team Keymc’s Comp Schedule.
In addition to our regular competition season, we may attend a Finals competition in June or early July. While this is not mandatory it is preferred that full teams plan for this.
We would also like to attend a solo/duet/trio competition and convention for dancers that are interested. Details will follow as the dates become available. This is NOT a mandatory event.
Competition fees are not included in the tuition fees. Competition fees are approximately $75 per dancer for group dances, and $150 per dancer per solo, duet, or trio.
KEYMC has workshop classes for selected levels that are intended to offer an additional challenge for ourdancers. Dancers are required to take the competitive class in the same discipline as the workshop class.
We will be holding auditions for workshops this year tentatively on Monday June 20, 2022, and Wednesday June 22, 2022. If your dancer would like to audition to be on a workshop team for our 2022-2023 season, please contact the director at email@example.com or register through your parent portal. (there is no charge for the audition class). Dancers must accept their spot on their team prior to registering for the workshop audition.
Solos, Duets & Trios:
Choreography fees are $350 per solo and $275 per person per duet/trio and are due to the assigned choreographer at or prior to your dancer’s first rehearsal. For this fee, dancers will receive 4 hours of individual rehearsal time for solos, and 6 hours for duets and trios. Following their allotted private time, dancers will attend group rehearsals with other dancers to continue rehearsing their solo/duet/trio.
Additional private rehearsals can be arranged with the choreographer directly. During the regular dance season, solo, duet, and trio rehearsals will be scheduled based on the availability of the choreographer, as well as studio space.
Please note that the studio will be responsible for assigning choreographers, and all invitations for solos, duets, and trios will come through the director.
