COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS ages 6-19

Dancers must be invited to participate in our competitive programs. Dancers who are interested in participating but have not been invited should set up an audition with the director.

Attendance to all classes is imperative. Dancers who miss an excessive amount of classes, as determined by the teacher, may be asked to withdraw from the program. Dancers are expected to attend not only their competitive choreography classes but their technical classes as well. (i.e. technique, ballet, etc)

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

We have two levels of competition teams; Novice and Regular Competitive. Part Time and Regular Competitive. Novice dancers and part time dancers are required to take fewer classes and they compete at a beginner or intermediate levels at competitions. The following classes are the requirement outline for all competitive levels:

COMPETITIONS:

Our 2017-2018 competition schedule will be confirmed by the beginning of October. Except for special circumstances, we expect all dancers to attend all competitions, including those out of town. There are considerable fundraising opportunities to offset costs.

Here are the competitions in which we are considering for the 2017-2018.

  1. Winnipeg- Move Dance Competition – March 21-24,2018
  2. Minneapolis, MN Regional competition- March-April
  3. Regina, Sask Competition Power- early May
  4. Winnipeg- View Dance Challenge -May 24-27
  5. We will plan on attending a National Competition, dates TBA.

The fees for the competitions are not included in the tuition fees. Fees are approximately $60 per dance, per dancer for group dances, and $125 per dancer for solo or duet or trio pieces.

SOLOS, DUETS & TRIOS:

Dancers who are invited to perform a solo, duet or trio will pay the choreographer separately. The studio will be responsible for assigning choreographers. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to Rheesa directly. Fees will be $300 per solo and $150 per person per duet/trio. All invitations will come through the director. Please note that choreography fees are payable when rehearsals commence. During the regular dance season, these additional rehearsals will be scheduled for Sundays. Please note that for your choreography fee dancers will receive 3-4 hours of individual rehearsal time and then group rehearsals. Additional private rehearsals can be arranged with the choreographer directly.

FUNDRAISING:

There are many wonderful fundraising opportunities that can help to defer competition costs. Please make sure you take advantage of everything the fundraising committee has to offer- please feel free to offer your ideas as well!

A competitive student parents meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 3, at 7:00PM.
